Are changing pad covers necessary?
I bought two summer infant two-sided changing pads, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. Are covers really necessary? They are made of a vinyl material so it seems it would be easy to wipe off. Thoughts?
With my first I just put a receiving blanket over the top since I had a bunch of those. The pads can get cold and the covers also protect the pad. I've been lazy and haven't been using anything and our old pad is ripping.
@MeleahR,
A changing pad period isn't really necessary, but I got a cover from target by circo, it's minky dot on the sides and down the center is an easily wipe able material just like the changing bad itself
@anah_banana,
Now that makes sense. The ones I got are fabric, and it just seems like I would be washing covers all the time ...
@MeleahR,
I put a receiving blanket over my changing pad , fits perfectly and looks just as good
@MeleahR,
It's awesome, the wipe able material I chose was white and grey chevron, they have others too
We always changed my daughter on our bed with a blanket underneath. I gave away changing pad and cover about 6 months after she was born, which were in new condition still.
@MeleahR,
I changed my first on the table with a padded table cloth made of vinyl. No need for a changing pad, or its cover
@MeleahR,
I have been washing my changing pad covers so often - that I just put an absorbent puppy training pad down. My daughter seems to hold her pee until I change her diaper and then she pees all over the changing pad! The covers are more trouble than they are worth for me!
@MeleahR,
I did put a fluffy towel down first before the puppy pad because the changing pad gets so cold.
My daughter is 2 and I still use mine.
